The online casino directory, CasinoCity, has filed the
first of what some say could be many lawsuits against the U.S.
government. The lawsuit is in response to the government’s
crackdown on online casinos that are operated or supported by
U.S. based companies.
According to government officials, online gambling is
illegal in the U.S. However, it is not clear as to whether or
not the federal law does not permit all forms of online
gambling. After the recent interrogation and pressuring by the
U.S. government, large web-based advertisers like Google have
pulled all online casino advertisements – Actually, any
advertisement that is traceable to online gambling has been
pulled.
This has angered many, and CasinoCity is the first to
publicly speak out about it in the courtroom. Many think
CasinoCity is taking a big risk, due to the attention they are
bringing their operation. If they win the lawsuit, which is
specifically asking that advertisement for online casinos
(undoubtedly offshore online casinos) be considered as free
speech, deemed by the Constitution. However, if they lose, one
can rest assured that CasinoCity will be in the spotlight of
the U.S. government’s online casino crackdown, and maybe face
some legal action… Perhaps, to show what is to come to anyone
who tries to promote or run an online casino from the U.S. via
the underground internet world.
