It seems just a bit ironic that one of the biggest players
in the online gambling world, Sportingbet, actually makes most
of its income not from sports betting, but from online
gambling, casinos and poker. And now that Sportingbet has
acquired Paradise Poker - the third biggest online poker
destination today – Sportingbet will be making a large portion
of its income on internet poker.
Up until now, most of SportingBet’s revenue has been from
gambling on horseracing and bets placed on college and NBA
basketball games in America. But largely due to record
earnings this last year of £5.4m, SportingBet is in an optimal
place to expand and do more. The buy-out of Paradise Poker for
£169m definitely lives up to the title that Sportingbet
recently received of being the World’s Leading Online Gambling
Site.
As for Paradise Poker, they currently have an active
patronage of over 100,000, which brought them a profit of
£13.4m last year alone. And SportingBet plans to keep these
same players coming back. Their website will still allow all
their members to sign in with their usual account information
– Except now, players will have the option of gambling at
online casino poker.
