L.V. Preps to
Celebrate Centennial Birthday With More Than Gambling
Las Vegas turns one-hundred
years old Sunday, May 15, 2005, and the State Commission on
Tourism is doing all it can to help kick the centennial
celebration into motion. The official website for Las Vegas
is www.visitlasvegas.com, where information about all the
latest happenings can be found. Right now there are special
offers available at several hotels and casino resorts, which
the website will help prospective visitors book in advance.
Entertainment is always a
major agenda in Sin City. Right now Celine Dion is
still on, with Kenny Chesney and Reba McEntire performing in
June, and Elton John doing shows in July. In addition, there
are always the jaw-dropping Cirque du Soleil shows playing
everyday. The new Wynn Resort is starting up its own circus
show, produced by the same group that created the Cirque
shows.
The Las Vegas Commission is
also trying to promote some of the lesser known – but just as
exciting – activities other than casino gambling and
night-life. Breath-taking, scenic tours of the Grand Canyon, Death Valley National Park, as
well as the Hoover Dam, which supplies the seemingly endless
output of electricity to the city, are always available for
sight seers.
If you are still not
satisfied, visitors can set up helicopter tours (on the Grand
Canyon), attend sporting events, participate in sporting
events (Las Vegas has some of the best golfing in the world)
and of course, get married. The Las Vegas website even has
information for wedding engagements, including links to
planners, churches and photographers.
If you have ever thought
about visiting Las Vegas, now is one of the best times. With
newly opened casino resorts, recently refurbished older
resorts, and a centennial birthday party, all of Las Vegas
guarantees non-stop fun and excitement.
