Wynn Las
Vegas Casino Resort to Open in April
Las Vegas, or rather, Steve Wynn is breaking ground again,
set to open another casino resort on April 28, 2005. Called
Wynn Las Vegas, which Mr. Wynn admits is the only building he
has ever assigned his name to, is already introducing new
milestones in design, as did his Mirage Casino Resort in ’89
and the Bellagio in ’98.
Now, Wynn has ventured into a more simplistic but graceful
approach that puts emphasis on gardens, intimacy and
accessibility. As for the gardens, there are two majestically
sculpted gardens bordering the resort’s two main swimming
pools, and a beautiful 35 feet waterfall at the end of the
eighteenth hole on the redesigned Desert Inn golf course.
The casino resort has a theatre-in-the-round performing
space that will seat up to 2,100, but at the same time putting
no spectators more than forty-two feet from the performing
space. Two shows are already lined up to perform there,
including "Le Reye", another Franco Dragone Montreal cirque
production, and the Tony award winning musical "Avenue Q".
With a 110,000 square feet casino floor and 2,700 luxuriant
floor-to-wall windowed rooms, the Wynn’s new creation is par
with the size and spaciousness of his former grand creations.
However, this time around Wynn wanted to instill more
accessibility to visitors. Therefore, there are several
strategically placed elevators that limit walking distance to
the casino and fine restaurant, which is sanctioned from the
casino floor.
Reservations are already being booked online at the casino
resort’s website, and range anywhere from $219 to $850 per
night, depending on room size and day of the week.
