Summit
Entertainment Plans to Release Online Casino
The land-based casino owner and entertainment company,
Summit Entertainment Group Inc., announced it is in the
planning stages of developing an online casino to be operating
on the internet very soon. Called Summit Online Casino, the
betting site will run all the traditional casino games and
slot machines
A gaming platform development contract has been signed with
FutureBet Gaming Systems, who has already created many
gambling platforms for large online casino destinations, such
as SportsBookUSA and PokerRoom.com. Together, the two
businesses plan to put into operation an online casino that
will hopefully make US$300,000 in the coming year.
Summit Entertainment Group is known for acquiring and
operating land-based casinos, which is why it should be
interesting to see how well the company does online. Now the
largest casino operator in the world, Harrah’s Entertainment,
tried to do the same, but recently closed down its online
casino due to a loss of profit. And although Summit just
successfully acquired yet another casino in Biloxi Mississippi
last month, the online casino gambling world is a stark
contrast to the land-based world.
Whereas the overhead in operating a brick ‘n mortar casino
is more costly, marketing to the public is more localized. On
the internet, a lot more funding is needed to be put into
marketing in order to make a substantial dent in the
multi-billion dollar industry.
