Sportsbook Casino Counterclaims Embezzlement Lawsuit
International All Sports, the online gambling sportsbook
and casino, defended itself in a $17 million lawsuit by
issuing a counterclaim. In a claim that spans over five years,
the Commonwealth Bank of Australia is demanding compensation
from the online casino due to what the bank claims was All
Sports willingness to take illegally placed bets from one of
the bank’s branch managers in Karratha.
Just how illegal these bets were is very clear, at least
from the branch manager’s standpoint, who embezzled and lost
over $19 million gambling in the online casino. Whether
International All Sports was keeping track of this particular
players spending, and whether they actually knew it was stolen
money is what the court will decide.
International All Sports, however, claims they knew nothing
of the embezzlement, and that this player was treated and
assessed like all other players in the casino. IAS chairman,
Barry Coulter, stated that casino management has no way of
verifying a player’s mental status, or where their gambling
money comes from. He claims, rather, that the bank should be
held accountable for the embezzlement, and that they should
have been keen to the fraudulent money transfers taking place
internally, from branch to branch.
The bank manager responsible for the fraud is currently
serving a five year prison sentence, and has not commented on
the situation. It is possible this person will testify in
regards to the lawsuit in order to get an idea of who else, in
anybody, knew of the embezzlement taking place.
