Chimera
Poised to Finish Mobile Phone Gambling Integration
Online gambling platform developer, Chimera Technology
Corp., announced that it now has begun integrating its
anticipated mobile phone gaming platform. No later than May
2005 will the company have completed this integration and make
the technology available to consumers.
In early February Chimera announced it was seeking the
technology to begin the implementation process. And now the
company is moving at a rate that would make it one of the
leading providers of online casino gaming via mobile phones.
Chimera says the new platform will be available to all of its
licensees immediately upon the completion of the current
integration, and that online casino gambling games such as
hi-lo poker, blackjack, video poker, and baccarat will be
available for real-money or practice play for fun.
Chimera is defending their move into the non-existent
market (as of yet) of mobile gaming, stating that the industry
stands to bring in $16 billion worldwide by 2008, and that
US$2 billion of that will come from American gamblers.
The company has in fact done its research, pinpointing the
US economy as a fertile ground for this type of online casino
gambling. However, there are some concerns. First, the
question remains whether the US will categorize this type of
gambling under their infamous Wire Act, which already
prohibits casino sports betting online. Also unforeseen is
just how efficient gambling from mobile phones will be. We all
know how temperamental mobile phones can be, operating under
the care of satellites, which are prone to unpredictable
weather conditions. Just how responsive Chimera’s online
gaming platform will be, and how the company deals with
inevitable kinks in the system will soon be seen.
