Vegas.com Buys Las Vegas Casino Travel & Tours
Once again another component of land-based casino gambling
has no choice but to go online in order to stay alive.
However, in this case it would be more like coming out on top
in the green. This is precisely what Casino Travel & Tours,
the retail chain based all over the Las Vegas Strip did
recently. The twenty year old business, which has served
thousands of tourists and vacationers in the Las Vegas region,
sold itself to Vegas.com, the giant travel booking firm that
essentially does the same thing as Casino Travel & Tours, but
online.
Although the exact amount of the transaction was not
released, it is a safe bet to say Casino Travel & Tours got
its money worth. Vegas.com virtually monopolizes the online
casino resort booking, information and tours industry in Las
Vegas, and now wants to venture into the realm of retail.
Vegas.com, which is owned by the same owners of The Vegas Sun,
plans to keep all 118 employees of Casino Travel & Tours on
the books, claiming their acquisition of the business will
only make it grow and offer more of an experience for their
customers.
This dynamic between retail and online services is
precisely what Vegas.com is planning to exploit. In the
meantime, all operations of Casino Travel & Tours, such as
limousine tours, Grand Canyon excursions and show ticketing
will remain running.
