Las
Vegas Casinos Increase Poker Tournaments
If you have heard about how big poker has become, it is no
exaggeration. Las Vegas especially has become a steady host to
some of the biggest and most affordable poker tournaments in
days of late. In preparation for The World Series of Poker
Tournament taking place at the Rio Resort, casinos all along
the Strip are holding special games and even creating new
circuit tournaments. For instance, Harrah’s (who incidentally
has bought the rights to the WPT starting next season)
recently held a $10,000 buy-in at a Texas Holdem tournament.
At the very same time, the Bellagio was holding a more
reasonable $500 buy-in.
These days, poker tournaments are becoming part of the
repertory of casino events. The tournaments at the Bellagio,
mentioned above, are hosted every Wednesday and Friday,
expanding to daily tournaments after the WPT final concludes
next month. After the tourny, the Bellagio has planned daily
Texas Holdem tournies with $500 buy-ins Sunday through
Thursday, and $1,000 buy-ins for tournaments held every Friday
and Saturday. Gamblers can also play satellite games in the
early morning with inexpensive buy-ins that will award a few
seats in the tournaments. The daily tournaments, however, have
already started in other casinos. Already, the Orleans Casino
is holding daily tournaments with buy-ins ranging from $20 to
$100, which is more in line with most gamblers bankrolls.
In what was primarily the home of Southern California, and
Los Angeles’s Commerce Casino, poker rooms are starting to
make a big shift toward Las Vegas. Since the gambling scene is
already thriving here, many poker players are saying, "why
not". It’s where the money is – Furthermore, the casino resort
owners are now starting to put a lot of investment in the
industry, which poker professionals and enthusiasts are
starting to recognize and appreciate.
