Gambling Regulation

Jim McDermott’s new bill to regulate and tax online gambling
has raised questions, the most important of which being:
should we legalize online gambling? The intention is to raise
money for the use and expansion of human resources. USA Today
contained an article about the bill and took a vote online to
see what the people thought.
The result was a resounding yes for 97% of the poll-takers.
Many people are using the term “pro-regulation” as opposed to
“pro-legalization” because they recognize the fact that online
casino members abound in America whether it is legal or not.
The logic is that, if it is going to happen anyway it’s better
to regulate the use of online casinos than not.
Sherman Bradley, a head gaming analyst from Online Casino
Advisory, recommends regulation. He says, “All the money spent
to try to ban online casinos is money poured down the drain.
On the other hand, issues over minors, problem gambling, and
honest play are all easily addressed through licensing and
regulation.”
