The Online Gambling Payment Saga
The Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006 certainly hasn’t stopped
people from venturing onto online casinos but it has created several roadblocks
when it comes to payment. This has stilted Americans’ gambling enjoyment. The
biggest concern is that there are no guarantees when it comes to payment
procedure and no-one to enforce lawful action when you are dealing with
something that is technically unlawful.
Darren Rovell, of CNBC, expounded on this dilemma in an article, saying, “First,
it became hard to get your money to the online books. The credit cards bowed
out. Next was Paypal. Then went Neteller and Firepay.” He attempted to contact
Zip Payments and Bodog to find out information regarding payment and was never
able to get a hold of anyone and never had his calls returned.
The evasive attitude of these companies in regards to payment do not bode well
for online gamblers. Some have complained that it has taken almost 40 days to
receive payments. Rovell continues to look into this online casino craze that is
not only unlawful for Americans but unreliable. He asks for people to share
their online casino payment experiences with him at sportsbiz@cnbc.com.
