Wynn
Grabs Negreanu for His New Casino Poker Room
The newest creation of casino tycoon,
Steve Wynn, is the Wynn Resort – and it is promising to
compete with the other big casinos in Las Vegas. Ironically,
it was these same casinos that Wynn once created who are now
attempting to enforce safeguards that would keep them from
losing patrons to Wynn’s much talked about casino. And now
that Wynn has signed Daniel Negreanu to be host of his new
poker room, other casinos are trying to fight back. The
Bellagio, for instance, has remodeled its own poker room,
opening the very day before Wynn’s resort opened its doors.
Located near the top of The Strip, the
Wynn Resort is vying for rights to be called the most upscale
casino in Las Vegas. And with Negreanu signed on, which is
supposedly a deal going into very large figures, the hip crowd
of big-money poker players is expected to be drawn in. The
specifics of the deal with Negreanu have not officially been
released; However, inside sources have reported that the WSOP
champion will be playing exclusively at the Wynn when he is
not on this year’s WSOP Tour. Just how often he will be
making appearances is not known.
This turn of events is interesting,
considering that Negreanu was being courted by Jack
McClelland, the tournament director at Bellagio. In a joking
tone at the taping of the WPT, McClelland was urging Negreanu
to attend the grand opening of the Bellagio's renovated poker
room. Just how Daniel took the advances shows for itself.
It looks like the ever present, enterprising Wynn won again.
